Activities on Board:
Games

Among the most popular activities are the various type of games offered to passengers from games of chance (quite apart from the regular gaming in The Casino) to board games to TV-type Game Shows to jigsaw puzzles

Here's a sampling of the many games you can play aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam.

Games

Bingo is held every day (usually in the afternoon) in Billboard Onboard (forward starboard side Deck 2 - Lower Promenade Deck). You have to pay for your Bingo cards, but you have the opportunity to win cash prizes. On the last full day of the cruise, the prize for the winner of the final game of the day is a 7-night cruise for two. (It won't be in a Neptune Suite, but remember the worst day cruising is generally better than the best day doing most anything else.) You must be 21 to purchase a bingo card.

If games of chance are your thing, then Casino Tournaments may be just your cup of tea. Periodically, in The Casino (forward port side Deck 2 - Lower Promenade Deck) tournaments are held for the various games offered there.

You can play Trivia every day in Billboard Onboard (forward starboard side Deck 2 - Lower Promenade Deck). It's one of the opportunities to win "Cheap Ship Stuff" (be very careful when you say that) such as key chains, luggage tags, and other tchotchkes that clutter up your luggage on the way home. It's a lot of fun, though, especially if you (like Lee) consider it a blood sport.

On many evenings you can play Music Trivia in Billboard Onboard (forward starboard side Deck 2 - Lower Promenade Deck). Some nights, it will be general, but other nights it will be themed (e.g., Broadway tunes, 80s pop, etc.).

If Game Shows such as The Not So Newlywed Game or Liar's Club (either as a participant or an observer) float your boat, you can find them in Explorer's Lounge (aft starboard side Deck 2 - Lower Promenade Deck) on many evenings during our cruise.

If you enjoy Board or Family Games, you can find a mix of both cruise-staff-led games (e.g., Pictionary, Scattergories, or Taboo), or independent meet-ups (e.g., Scrabble, Mahjong, Chess, Checkers, or Jenga). These are likely to be offered in the Game Room in the Crow's Nest. You can check out board and other games in the Game Room (forward starboard side Deck 11 - Observation Deck) If you're a puzzle fan, the daily New York Times Crossword, a daily trivia game, and a daily Sudoku are available in The Library (forward starboard side, Deck 3 - Promenade Deck) if you're a puzzle fan.

Most afternoons (and some evenings) The Nieuw Amsterdam offers Party Bridge in one of the Meeting Rooms (forward starboard side Deck 3 - Promenade Deck). You can expect some Bridge Tournaments as well.

If you like working Jigsaw Puzzles, HAL ships always have a selection available. Place a piece or two or spend a few hours and complete the puzzle in the Game Room (forward starboard side Deck 11 - Observation Deck) which is part of the Crow's Nest.

If you enjoy playing games like pinball, air hockey, skee-ball, or foosball, then head up to High Score  (midships port side Deck 10 - Panorama Deck). By day, it's the part of the Kids Club for Teens, but at night everyone can enjoy themselves here. To see photos and hours, click HERE.
